Become a Veterans’ Gateway Supporter

Veterans’ Gateway works with a range of key referral organisations – both within and outside the Armed Forces sector – to ensure we can refer people to the right organisation for their needs.

Organisations can apply to become a Veterans’ Gateway supporter, choosing from three levels of inclusion:

*We have temporarily suspended applications from organisations that offer local rather than national coverage. This is due to ongoing technical work on our Local Support mapping tool. We will update once the technical work has concluded and then resume applications.*

Partner

The Veterans’ Gateway 24-hour Contact Centre takes details from phone calls, emails plus live chat and directly refers veterans to the most appropriate partner to provide support. Online guides will also include links to partners, where possible, to allow veterans to access your support.

Partners have a page within Veterans’ Gateway outlining their services and contact details. Office locations and contact details are also shown within the local support application allowing veterans to access services in their area.

It is essential that partners can provide the following:

  • A general (non-individual) email address to receive notifications about referrals from the Connect Assist team. The email notifications contain no details about the referral. They ask the partner to log in to a secure page on Veterans’ Gateway to retrieve the information. Emails must be regularly checked as referrals need to be actioned within two working days.
  • A contact number (for warm referrals), with the days of the week and times that your organisation will be available to take warm referral calls.

Information Organisation

Individuals are not directly referred to information organisations. Veterans can access information organisation links and contact details from a guide within each online support area (e.g. Housing and a sub category such as homelessness).

Information organisation office locations and contact details are shown within the local support application allowing veterans to access services in their area.

Local Support Organisation

*We have temporarily suspended applications from organisations that offer local rather than national coverage. This is due to ongoing technical work on our Local Support mapping tool. We will update once the technical work has concluded and then resume applications.*

*If you do apply as a Local Support Organisation, we will hold your details until applications resume. Thank you for your patience.*

Local support organisation office locations and contact details are shown within the local support application allowing veterans to access services in their area.

What happens next

The panel will evaluate your application and contact you with a decision or requesting more information (normally  within 6 weeks of receipt of your application).

Your application will be reviewed by a panel drawn from Veterans’ Gateway partners, to ensure consistency of approach. The panel will not focus on a particular set of criteria, but judge the application as a whole. They will focus on the support you provide, accessibility, your organisation’s connection with the Armed Forces Community and, importantly, what you are able to offer that is not being already provided by existing partners.

Appeals against the decision will be presented by the Assistant Director Veterans’ Gateway to the Veterans’ Gateway Steering Group, who will make a final ruling.
