British Forces Broadcasting Service’s Big Salute funds Veterans Activities


This year the British Forces Broadcasting Service’s (BFBS ) Big Salute campaign is helping to fund materials and equipment for Veterans’ pottery and art classes at the Erskine Reid Macewen Activities Centre (ERMAC). 

The Activities Centre, part of the Erskine Veterans Village in Bishopton, has gone from strength to strength since opening and currently has 186 active members.

The Centre offers a wide variety of activities and classes, from creative to sporting, holistic to technological, and now also includes sessions for spouses and carers.

The BFBS Big Salute campaign awards grants to a wide variety of projects which make a huge difference across the Armed Forces community.We are proud to be part of this community and very grateful to the Trustees for choosing to support our veterans.

As Scotland’s foremost provider of care for veterans and their spouses, Erskine provides unrivalled nursing, residential, and dementia care in three homes throughout Scotland.

The team also assist younger veterans who need help to begin the next chapter of their lives, offering social, recreation and training facilities at their Activity Centre and employment opportunities in partnership with Scotland’s Bravest Manufacturing Co.

On the Veterans Village in Bishopton there are 44 cottages for Veterans and their families as well as five Assisted Living Apartments and 24 Transitional Supported Accommodation Apartments – supporting Veterans of all ages.
