RAF Veteran Neil Flanigan MBE is honoured at Memorial Service

On Friday 24th May, 2024 a special Memorial Service was held at London City Hall for the late Mr Neil Flanigan MBE.

The day was all the more poignant as Neil would have been 100 on the same day.

Tribute to Neil Flanagan with drum and flags.

Neil was a remarkable man and a WW2 RAF veteran.

He was also a Windrush campaigner, community leader, educator, and more.

Neil was passionate about raising awareness around the service of similar individuals and their contribution to society.

He attended events including the annual Cwm By Yah events in Belgium and France and the annual Hollybrook Event with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (GWGC) as part of the British Army Black History Month commemorations.

The Royal British Legion’s (RBL’s) Head of Community Engagement, Antony Metcalfe, was asked to say a few words on behalf of the RBL at the event.

The partnership alongside organisations like British West India Regiment Heritage Trust and many others ensures that the service and sacrifice of all is recognised, valued, highlighted and shared.
