Samaritans are working with SSAFA (the Armed Forces Charity) to better understand suicidal ideation, and suicide prevention strategies, amongst the military veteran population.

And that’s why they need your help.

Are you a veteran who has experienced any of the following?

– Self-harm

– Suicidal thoughts or attempts

– Bereavement by suicide

– Use of Samaritans services

If so, you are eligible to join the Samaritans’ Lived Experience Panel as a volunteer. You’ll have the opportunity to take part in a  variety of surveys and polls. This includes the joint SSAFA Samaritans Partnership survey which you will see first-hand this summer, 2022.

As a volunteer you can also choose the surveys and polls that you wish to complete. And your lived experience will be vital in shaping the work needed around suicide prevention in the veteran community.

Alongside Samaritans’ Lived Experience Panel, there are opportunities for people with lived experience to work with teams on different projects.

If you have any questions about getting involved with the Lived Experience Panel at Samaritans, please email them. And to find out more about the SSAFA Samaritans’ Partnership project please email.
