Operation Sterling supports older LGBT+ veterans

Operation Sterling is a partnership between Fighting With Pride (FWP) and Age UK. The programme supports older LGBT+ veterans, service personnel and their families in a range of areas.

It combines the existing expertise of Age UK’s Advice Line advisors with FWP’s knowledge around  the wellbeing of LGBT+ veterans. And means that Operation Sterling can support older LGBT+ veterans in various ways.

Specifically, there will be telephone-based support, advice and casework to older LGBT+ veterans through Age UK’s Advice Line.

There’s a focus on helping older LGBT+ veterans access eligible financial support and helping them get started on the claims process.

Age UK’s advisors are also able to provide further support, including advising older LGBT+ veterans on housing options and social care.
