The Erskine Veterans Charity proudly hosts the annual Tree of Honour event

The Erskine Veterans Charity has proudly hosted the annual Tree of Honour event at The Erskine Home in the Veterans Village, Bishopton.

Reverend Graham Morrison dedicated the tree that was kindly donated by Richard Irvin FM. And this was followed by the  lighting up the tree, plus carol singing led by the Paisley Salvation Army.

Navy Veteran, Hillary Hunt was delighted to have the honour of lighting the hundreds of twinkling lights that adorned the tree; saying that she loves Christmas and was delighted to do the honour of lighting such a beautiful tree.

Veterans, staff, volunteers, families and friends from the local community gathered in the freezing conditions to enjoy the ceremony. They joined in the carol singing before heading inside for warm mince pies and mulled wine. Plus entertainment in the Bunker.

The evening certainly lit up Erskine for Christmas.

About Erskine Veteran Charity

Erskine is a family. Their strength lies in the very special blend of dedicated care, compassion and understanding offered to our residents and their families.

When Erskine Veterans Charity was founded in 1916, the aim was to care for service men and women who had been injured in active service.

Today, care remains the cornerstone of their philosophy. We not only care for our Veterans – we care about them.

As Scotland’s foremost provider of care for Veterans and their spouses, Erskine Veterans Charity provides unrivalled nursing, residential and dementia care in three homes throughout Scotland.

They also assist younger veterans who need help to begin the next chapter of their lives. Erskine offers social, recreation and training facilities at their Activity Centre and employment opportunities in partnership with Scotland’s Bravest Manufacturing Co.

At the Veterans Village in Bishopton there are 44 cottages for Veterans and their families. Plus five Assisted Living Apartments and 23 Transitional Supported Accommodation Apartments, supporting Veterans of all ages.

As a charity, Erskine relies on the generosity of supporters to maintain our commitment to care for Scotland’s Veterans. Without donations we simply cannot continue this work. Please donate directly to Erskine.
