Veterans’ charity Erskine lights up its annual Tree of Honour

Erskine, Scotland’s largest Veterans charity, has lit up its annual Tree of Honour at The Erskine Home, Bishopton.

100-year-old veteran, and resident, Royal Marine Sandy Cormack was chosen to switch on the lights and said  “I was very proud to be asked to light up the Tree of Honour”.

The John Campbell choir, from Bishopton, also shared wonderful carol singing with the help of residents, families, staff and volunteers.

Activities Co-ordinator, Craig Berry, summed up the mood:

It was a wonderful evening. We were absolutely delighted that so many residents and their families could attend the Tree of Honour light switch on. Once we were in from the cold we enjoyed hot refreshments and mince pies while listening to John and his choir sing lots of Christmas songs. It was a lovely way to start off the festive season.

Celebrations in Erskine's home

Erskine would like to thank The Jonathan Cartmell Miller Charitable Trust for their sponsorship of the evening.
